Hey y’all! It’s Ebrima with Edited For Brevity.
You might be thinking—didn’t I just get this email? You’re not crazy, you did. But Substack is kind of annoying and has some hoops I need to get through to make the recording free. So this is a duplicate post with the rest of the info in the post.
For about half of you, this is now the the second email you’ve ever gotten from me, so I’ll take the the chance to set the stage again.
Edited For Brevity is a new music publication and platform focused on storytelling, whether that be in the dissection of our favorite songs, or in the stories told by the people behind the scenes. While we do now have an Instagram, Substack is where we started and everything will kind of feed out of here, at least for now.
For those of you who aren’t new here—it’s been a while, right? By now, you likely know why. About three weeks ago, we put on Stage Presence, a panel on the choreography, styling, and physical training of live music. It was also our inaugural live event, and I spent the last two or so months planning it.
I sat down with physical trainer Jason “RapsTrainer” Lewis, and choreographer & movement director Gigi Todisco for a live convo about their work creating dance routines and physical training plans for musicians, and it was really insightful. Here is a recording of the full live conversation, in case you missed the event, or just want to revisit the conversation.
The event was a resounding success; we had a great conversation & turnout, but more than anything, we started building an irl community of people driven by these kinds of stories, something which has always been a longterm goal. Not an audience—a community. I’m really excited to keep meeting people and for us to keep exploring these stories together.
On that note, I’m already plotting on some fun stuff for this summer, so stay tuned for that. In the meantime, check out the recording on the “podcast feed”, follow us on IG, and keep up with us here on Substack! See you soon, promise.

I’m Ebrima, and this has been Edited for Brevity.
